Ruth Malia “Chu-Chu” Gong of San Francisco, Calif., died Sept. 19, 2008, at the age of 71.
She is survived by husband Eddy Gong; daughters Primrose K. “Noe” (Norman) Hookano of Makaweli, Rev. Bertxandria “Sandy” (Moses) Keale of Anahola, Lovelan “Lovey” (Kaipo) Napoleon of Wailua; stepdaughters Jennifer (Thuan Nong) Gong Lee of South San Francisco, Calif., Olive (Roy Johnston) Gong of San Francisco, Calif.; stepson Matthew (Rose Ann) Gong of Pacifica, Calif.; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends may visit with the family during a celebration of her life at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 3, at the Lucy Wright Park in Waimea. Services will commence at 5:30 p.m. officiated by Rev. Wayne A.K. Vidinha of Ke Akua Mana Church.
Marian Shimono
Marian Yoshie Shimono of ‘Ele‘ele died Sept. 28, 2008, at home at the age of 88. Born Oct. 10, 1919, in Kaua‘i, she was a cook at Lihue Delicatessen.
She was preceded in death by husband Edward Yoshio Shimono.
She is survived by sons Harold (Debra) Shimono of ‘Ele‘ele, Dennis (Stephanie) Shimono of California and Steven (Ann) Shimono of California; daughter Kathleen (John) Warren of California; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sisters Hatsue Ahana of Lihu‘e, Katherine Sato of Lihu‘e and Yuriko (Masaichi) Ajimura of Hanapepe; sisters-in-law Sueyo Lorance, Hatsuyo (George) Ozaki and Yoshiko Moke; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends may visit with the family at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 2, at the Kauai Soto Zen Temple in Hanapepe; service begins at 11 a.m. Casual attire is suggested and the family requests that flowers be omitted.

Valerie August-Campbell
Valerie-Mae Kuuleimailelaulii August-Campbell of Hilo, formerly of Kaua‘i, died Sept. 24, 2008, at Hilo Medical Center at the age of 53. Born Feb. 11, 1955, in Honolulu, she was a homemaker.
She is survived by sons Shawn Keone (Rona) August and Kikaolu August, both of Kaua‘i; daughters Ku‘ulei (Chris Cox) Campbell and Kaiulani (Jarred Dorado) Campbell, both of Kaua‘i; mother and stepfather Mercy and Donald Oliveira of Hilo; sister Lori (David) Thompson of Hilo; two grandchildren; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Delbert Albarado
Delbert “Animal” Albarado of Kalaheo died Sept. 26, 2008, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 51. Born April 24, 1957, in Honolulu, he was a truck driver with Kekaha Sugar Company.
He is survived by wife Diana Albarado; sons Dwaine (Pulama) Albarado of Lihu‘e and Quinton “KJ” (Rheyna) Albarado of Kalaheo; daughters Brooke (John) Planas of Kalaheo and Vallon (Bill) Albarado of Waimea; grandchildren Jamen Kealoha-Albarado, Ayzlin Kealoha-Albarado, Keileb Albarado-Planas, Seidree Kealoha-Albarado, Keiley Albarado-Planas, Darien Kealoha-Albarado, Ciari “Jumba” Kealoha-Albarado and Rheyton Albarado; parents, the late Walter Albarado and Georgiana Ana, and Robert and Gail Kelley; brothers Danny Kelley of Rhode Island and Thomas (Kathy) Kelley of Florida; sisters Karen (Wayne) Batis of Kekaha, Claudia (Bud) Adams of North Carolina, Elizabeth (Paul) Eckles of Arizona, Patricia (Robert) Coon of Rhode Island and Debbie (Joseph) Constantino of Illinois.

David Stem
David Edward Stem of Pearl City, O‘ahu, died Sept. 27, 2008, at the age of 68. Born April 12, 1940, in St. Joseph, Mo., he was a retired educator and former drama teacher at Kapa‘a Middle School.
He is survived by wife Florence Stem, sons John Stem of Kaua‘i and Lawrence T. (Hope) Stem of Kaua‘i, sister Ruth (Bruce) Baker of New Hampshire, and grandchildren Andrew and Zachary Stem.
Friends may visit with the family at 10 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 10, at Mililani Mortuary Makai Chapel; service begins at 11:45 a.m. Burial to follow at Mililani Memorial Park. Aloha attire is suggested and the family requests that flowers be omitted.
