Wilson Ulep Aranda
Wilson Ulep Aranda of Lihu‘e died Oct. 5, 2008, at WIlcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 78. Born June 6, 1930 in the Phillipines, he was preceded in death by son Wilson Aranda, Jr..
Survived by wife Carmen Aranda; sons Dante (Ligaya) Aranda, Warlito (Regina) Aranda, Roland (Nympha) Aranda, Alejandro (Susan) Aranda; daughters Wilma (John) Bumanglag, Marjorie (Carlos) Defuntorum; 16 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brothers Jovencio, Constantino, Fernado, Ruben, Mariano, and Victory Aranda.
Family and friends may call from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Oct. 16, at Borthwick Mortuary Chapel, Koloa and again from 8 a.m. to 9:45 p.m. Oct. 17 at Immaculate Conception Church.
Mass at 10 a.m. with burial to follow at Kauai Memorial Gardens.

Lawrence Andrade
Lawrence “Larry” Andrade died in Odessa, Texas, on Friday, Oct. 3, 2008, at the age of 88. He was born Nov. 27, 1919, on O‘ahu. He had a great love of motorcycles from an early age. He owned and operated the first motorcycle shop on Kaua‘i, and had a passion for riding until he was 84. He retired from the Kaua‘i Liquor Commission after 34 years of service. He also was an avid fisherman and a part-time cowboy at Kipu Ranch for 20 years.
He was preceded in death by mother Daisy Hobbs Andrade, father and stepmother Charles and Helene Andrade, and brothers Reginald and Boyd Andrade.
He is survived by wife Clarice of Odessa, Texas; daughter Susan; sons Carlos (Maile), Russell, Paul (Nancy), Kimo (Margaret), all of Kaua‘i, Pierre (Susan) of Tacoma, Wash.; stepson Bruce (Sue) of Rhome, Texas; grandsons Shannon Makali‘i, Joshua, Micah, Kaimalino, Cyrus, Sam, and Keith Nainoa; stepgrandsons Jacob and Mark; granddaughters Taeru, Pelika, Stacy, Natalie, Ku‘ulei, Noel and Karina; step-granddaughter Chrystal; 13 great-grandchildren; nine step-great-grandchildren; brothers Charles Andrade of Arizona, Tandy (Pat) Andrade of Arizona; sisters Tanya Muse of Arizona, Movita Kaimimoku of Maui; sisters-in-law Eleanor Andrade of Kaua‘i, Shirley Simpson of Odessa, Texas; brother-in-law Jerry (Millie) Houston of Colorado.
Family and friends may visit on Friday, Oct. 17, at the Kaua‘i Veterans Center in Lihu‘e. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m., and services will start at 2:30 p.m. Ashes will be scattered at a later time. The family requests casual attire and flowers to be omitted.
Gary Kodani
Gary Isami Kodani died Oct. 11, 2008, at his home in Kapa‘a. Born Sept. 19, 1948, in Lihu‘e, he was a HUD program manager for Kaua‘i County.
He is survived by wife June Masada Kodani of Kapa‘a; daughters Stacey Lary and Casey Kodani; son Christopher Lary; parents Toshimi and Satsuki Kodani; sister Aileen (Wayne) Nakai; brother Clyde (Helena) Kodani; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends may visit with family from 9:30 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 18, at Kapaa Missionary Church. Services will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. The family requests that flowers be omitted.
Arrangements will be handled by Borthwick Kaua‘i Mortuary.
Laura Ellacott
Laura Lee Ellacott of Beaufort, S.C., died Oct. 10, 2008, at home at the age of 53. Born Dec. 14, 1954, in Cleveland, Ohio, she was a federal employee with the U.S. Marine Corps.
She was preceded in death by mother Juanita C. Ellacott.
She is survived by father William F. Ellacott and sister Renee Brewer (Michael) of Edgewater, Fla.
Private services will be conducted Friday, Oct. 17, in Beaufort, S.C.
Anderson Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Kimberly Carvalho
Kimberly “Kim” J. Carvalho of Lihu‘e, and Waialua, died Oct. 11, 2008 in Kane‘ohe at the age of 46. She was born Oct. 6, 1962 in Redlands, Calif. and was a manicurist and a mom.
She is survived by her companion Andy Carvalho; sons Taylor and Gavin Carvalho; daughters Kiana and Aliyah Carvalho; parents John Dahlberg and Joyce Carvalho; brothers Chris and David Dahlberg and sisters Tracy Gossert and Makana Nadarisay.
Services will be held 2:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 17 at Valley of the Temples Byodo. Casual attire. Donations may be made to Central Pacific Bank, FBO Kimberly Carvalho 45-1054 Kamehameha Highway, Kaneohe, HI 96744.
