Talk about busy schedules, Calvin Paleka was up early Saturday for the Kaua‘i United Way Walk despite a l-o-n-g Friday night at Hanapepe Stadium. But it was a great game, so I guess it’s all right.
Mindi Agena was out with the Interact Club before bowling in the final KIF bowling match, Saturday.
Teal Basquez and Randee Layosa didn’t have that problem, though, since there was no more volleyball.
Jonelle Kaohelaulii was out for all those Kukui Grove events, including the 150th anniversary for Macy’s (which perked up Teal’s ears) and the grand reopening for Sears.
Mark Asakura, born and raised in Lihu‘e, is now a district appliance manager for Sears and came down with Jan Sallings for the festivities.
Nina Saraos of the Kaua‘i High School Singers and some of her singers helped at the walk, while others participated. After it was all over, the group gathered at Macy’s to sing “Happy Birthday.” The question is, did they have time to do a tune-up with Diane Melchor who was going to start everything up?
Bill Arakaki was at the game, Friday night and still made the walk along with coach Blanche Arakaki. Speaking of coaches, coach Todd Fuerte and coach Todd Mayer were sitting in the same section, and on the same row to boot.
OK, time to visit with William Trugillo and the AYSO, Region 940 U12 and U14 championships at Hanapepe Stadium.
