A 42-year-old woman riding a Kawasaki motorcycle on Kaumuali‘i Highway in Lihu‘e rear-ended a pickup truck yesterday and sustained minor injuries, county officials said.
The woman, a Kaua‘i resident, was taken to Wilcox Memorial Hospital via ambulance as police closed the highway near the Ho‘omana junction for about 20 minutes just after 2 p.m.
The motorcycle was traveling north at the time of the collision, and the operator was helped to the sidewalk on the bridge just south of Rice Street. A handful of Kaua‘i Police Department cruisers, as well as an ambulance and a fire engine, quickly arrived on the scene.
A pair of men put the disabled motorcycle into the back of a pickup.
The woman was treated for her injuries and released yesterday. Her identity was not available as of press time.
