Natasha Furtado
Natasha N. Furtado died on Oct. 30, 2008, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 18. Born in Lihu‘e on Dec. 1, 1989, she was a cashier for Whalers General store in Anahola.
Survived by parents Francis Furtado Jr., Momi Furtado; sisters Shylynn Furtado, Shayna Sa; brother Justin Furtado; grandparents Helen Sa, Marlene Furtado; numerous aunties, uncles and cousins.
Family and friends may visit with family from 9 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at Kapa‘a Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Nov. 14. Services will be held at 11 a.m. with burial to follow.

Paustino Nuivo
Paustino “Skinny” Nuivo died Oct. 30, 2008, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 78.
Born on April 18, 1930, in Hanamau‘ulu, he was a retired welder.
Survived by wife Clara Rapozo Nuivo; children Pamela (Anthony) Pantil, Dawn Amorin, Rose (Bruce) Horka, William (April) Nuivo, Kerry (Ora) Nuivo; brother Tony (Terry) Nuivo; sisters Naty (Nicholas) Arato, Soledad (Kelly) Cui; 15 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Family and friends may visit from 8:15 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. on Nov. 15, at Immaculate Conception Church where Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Family requests that flowers be omitted.

Antonia Parinas
Antonia Parinas died on Nov. 5, 2008, at Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital at the age of 89. Born in Abra, Philippines, she was a homemaker.
Preceded in death by husband Fernando Parinas.
Survived by sons Donato (Marcy) of Kekaha, Puleriano (Connie) of Sacramento, Calif., and Nestor (Avelina) of ‘Ele‘ele; daughter Rose Perona of Chicago Ill.; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family from 8 to 10 a.m. on Nov. 15, at St. Theresa’s Church in Kekaha.
Mass at 10 a.m. with burial to follow at Hanapepe Public Cemetary. Casual attire is suggested.

Albert Nawai
Albert Lanakila Nawai died Nov. 5, 2008, at home at the age of 59.
Born on Oct. 5, 1949, in Honolulu, he was a retired heavy equipment operator .
Preceded in death by mother Matilda Hiilawe Nawai; fathers Robert Nawai and Herman Kaikaka; brothers Richard Lanakila Nawai, Robert Kaialau, Hilgard Kaialau, Wilber Kaialau, Makana Kaialau and Herman Kaikaka; sister Mary Nawai.
Survived by wife Nanette Noelani Nawai, daughters Albette (Alan Bajo) Nawai and Alexis Nawai both of Waimea, hanai daughters Jocelyn McGhion, Tia Koerte and Melissa Zorn; stepson Michael Brandon Tanaka of O‘ahu; mother Otilla Kaikaka; brothers Robert (Lei) Nawai of Kaua‘i, Bobby Kaikaka of O‘ahu, Paul (Margie) Kaikaka of O‘ahu and Calvin (Debbie) Kaikaka of New Jersey, sisters Elizabeth (Robert) Freitas, Meha Warkentin and Otillia “Cissy” Kaikaka; sister-in-law Linda Nawai; numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family at 1 p.m. on Nov. 15, at the Kauai Veterans Cemetery pavilion with service at 2 p.m. Casual attire is suggested.

Shiro Agena
Shiro “Bob” Agena died Nov. 7, 2008, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 90.
Born May 9, 1918, in Kapa‘a, he retired from McBryde Sugar Co..
Survived by wife Marian Panui Agena; daughters Maureen (Raymond) Rapozo of Lihu‘e, Lois (Steven) Plahy of Honolulu, sons Lawrence (Audrey) Agena of Honolulu, Robert (Tassie) Agena of Lihu‘e; nine grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; sisters Janet Miyake of Hanama‘ulu, Sue Leong of Honolulu; brother Noboru (Kikue) Agena of Kapa‘a; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Private services were held.

Hiroshi Tateishi
Hiroshi Tateishi died Nov. 8, 2008, at Wilcox Hospital at the age of 84.
Born May 6, 1924, in Lawa‘i, he was a retired general manager for Hawaiian Fruit Preserving Co.
Preceeded in death by son Guy Tateishi.
Survived by wife Aster Tateishi of Kalaheo; daughters Fay Tateishi of Kalaheo, Diane Kent of Kalaheo, Toni (Darrell) Uchima of Caifornia, Laurie Tateishi of Kalaheo, Ellen (Floyd Yoshimoto) Tateishi of Hilo; brother Stanley (Chieko) Tateishi of Honolulu; sister Doris Shimaoka of Kekaha; five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of his life will be held Nov. 21, at Kauai Veterans Center in Lihu‘e with viewing from 5 to 6:45 p.m. Services begin at 7 p.m. with cremation to follow.
The family graciously declines flowers.
Kauai Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home assisted the Tateishi family with arrangements.
