Susan McFarland died Nov. 1, 2008, on Kaua‘i at the age of 56.
Born July 8, 1952 in Watsonville, Calif. she was flower picker.
She is survived by husband John McFarland; mother Eleanor Matley; children Peter Brown, Joshua Brown, Zayna McFarland, Amber Amabile; brother Michael Matley; sister Judy McCabe; nine grandchildren, Tristain, Madyson, Kara, Kylie, Bailey, Gabby, Chloe, Trevin and Kate.
Celebration of life will be held from 5 p.m. at Lydgate Park, Nov, 11, 2008.
Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick/Kauai Mortuary.

Beatrice Chieko Nakae died on Oct. 28, 2008 at home at the age of 79. Born in Kealia, Kaua‘i on Dec. 31, 1928. Preceded in death by husband, Satoru Nakae. Survived by son, Harlan (Bernie) Nakae of Kapa‘a, daughters, Charlene (Stanton) Koizumi of Kapaa, Lynne (Roy) Taogoshi of Kapaa and Lorene Inoshita of Princeville; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brothers, Sakae Michioka of Kapaa and Allen (Hilda) Michioka of Lihu‘e; two sisters, Peggy Carvalho of Kapa‘a and Marjorie Zaima of Lihue; three-step-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family at 3 p.m. on Nov. 9, 2008 at Kapaa Hongwanji Mission; service at 4 p.m.
Casual attire and flowers omitted.

Tsuyae “Elaine” Yoshimitsu
Tsuyae “Elaine” Yoshimitsu died in Ele‘ele on Oct. 31, 2008 at the age of 80. Born in Ele‘ele on Feb. 17, 1928 and was a dedicated homemaker. Survived by daughter Coleen Badoyen of Lihu‘e, son Aaron (Debbie) Yoshimitsu of Hanapepe; brothers Yuzuru Katsura and Mamoru of Oahu; sister Lillian Katsura of Ele‘ele; grandson Bryson Yoshimitsu of Hanapepe; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Viewing and celebration of her life will be held from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Nov. 8, 2008 at Kauai Veterans Cemetary; sevices from 10 a.m. with burial to follow.
Kauai Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.

Rogelio Cesario Jr. died on Oct. 29, 2008 at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 23.
Born on Nov. 27, 1984 in the Philipines he was a stock person.
Survived by wife Karina Valdez Cesario; daughter Alexandra Nicole Cesario; parents Rogelio (Lilia) Cesario Sr., brothers and sisters Celia (Recarte) Pagaduan, Edna (Romulo) Constantion, Thelma (Arthur) Pascual, Zeny (Beyflor) Cadiz, Jay (Criselda) Cesario, Josue (Joan) Cesario, Rocelia Cesario, Jozel Cesano, Bryan Cesario and numerous aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the familyfrom 5 p.m.to 9 p.m. on Nov. 8, 2008 at Borthwick Mortuary Chapel. Burial will be on a leter date in the Philipines.

Nancy Goodale
Nancy Sloggett Goodale, (Wilcox) kamaaina , philanthropist, and community volunteer, passed away on Kaua‘i Monday, November 3, 2008. Born on Kaua‘i February 12, 1929, she graduated from Punahou School and attended Pine Manor College in Massachusetts.
Survived by husband, Holbrook Goodale (Married on June 25, 1948), and four children, David Goodale (Patrice) – Kilauea, Katherine Richardson (Wayne) – Lihu‘e, Joan Evans (Randy) – Santa Barbara, and Dr. Richard Goodale (Karen) – Kilauea. Seven grandchildren, Matthew Goodale, Wayne Richardson IV, Tony Evans, Juliet Evans, Katherine Richardson, Ian Goodale and Dylan Goodale. Brother: Dick Sloggett (Loree) and Step-grandmother, Anna Sloggett.
Parents (deceased): Richard and Sue Sloggett. Sister (deceased): Sally Sloggett DeHarne; Grandparents (deceased): Etta Wilcox and Digby Sloggett (Kaua‘i) – Dr. Arthur and Edna Reynolds – Flint, Michigan.
Nancy participated as a member, volunteer and/or served as an officer in the following Hawaii organizations: YWCA, Wilcox Hospital, Waioli and Nuhou Corp.(Grove Farm Homesteads), National Tropical Botanical Garden, Mabel Wilcox Foundation, Girl Scouts, Island School, Kauai PTA, Kaua‘i Museum, Kaua‘i Historical Society, and the Mokihana Club.
Nancy had true sense of selfless service and real commitment to the community of Kaua‘i. Her leadership was quiet and steady following in the steps of her grandmother, Etta, and aunts, Mabel and Elsie Wilcox.
“She walked in grace and beauty and she was about the best thing that God ever created.”
Funeral services: November 11, 2008 – 4:30 – Lihue Cemetery. Aloha attire. No flowers. A gathering to celebrate the life of Nancy Goodale will follow the services at Grove Farm Museum.

Larry Saito
Larry Saito died on Oct. 21, 2008 in Las Vegas at the age of 57. Born in Lihu‘e, on Feb. 22, 1951. Survived by wife Phyllis Saito, daughter, Desaray (Robert) Brown; grandsons, Keanu Saito, Ali‘i Brown; aunts, Alice, Jean; uncles, Thomas, Robert and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation and celebration of his life will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. on Nov. 8, 2008 at Kaua‘i Veteran’s Center; service to follow.
