If you went to the McDonald’s in Lihu‘e, Thursday, the stars were out … Ron Wiley got the cashier all excited when she discovered he was the guy on the radio, and Marin Johnson was doing a great job helping raise funds for World Children’s Day. Funds help the Ronald McDonald House that has been used by a lot of people, including those from Kaua‘i, when they have to accompany children to O‘ahu hospitals for treatment.
Danny Abreu, McDonald’s area supervisor, said he is working to get the Lihu‘e store built up. He’s also excited about getting Ronald McDonald into the Lights on Rice parade, too.
Hats off to Nelson Batalion (they even got him to do the catwalk thing), John Constantino and the Associated Students group on a great fashion show. Nikki Lucidarme was going crazy serving food and cheering for Sova and Mel Bacio came through with a great cake. Taylor Shigemoto got to do his thing for the Kaua‘i Community Federal Credit Union, and the food was great.
Chef Jason Sunada said he’s talked with Chef Mark Oyama about getting the pastry shop program starting almost as soon as the students get back from Winter Break … stay tuned for more.
Congratulations to Bricen Moritsugu of Alu Like for doing a bang-up job with the 34th Annual College & Career Fair. Pili Chun, normally seen on the soccer fields, must’ve been the talk of Chiefess Kamakahelei Middle School after Nikki Ishibashi got through with her hair treatment.
