Also, mahalo to everyone for all the holiday goodies. You have to try the mango Kaua‘i Cookies (Lyle Kobashigawa was driving the Derek Kawakami float in the Waimea parade and didn’t say anything about it). OK, so now you know that it’s not just presents. There are a lot of new things out there to sample.
Edie Bandman was working with the Mokulele Air people in the parade (wait until next year. Devon Shishido of Hawaiian Air is already getting excited about floats in parades).
Hats off to Gwen and Larry Carveiro (no sweet bread, but a conversation with Raven Wood is just as good), Juan Lorenzo, and even Tommy Rita for doing their usual good job with Onohi Lane. Missed the Lori Almarza outing this year, though. Megan Rice had to head to work at the Brick Oven Pizza because someone called in sick and someone else was dilated at two centimeters. Merry Christmas!
Congratulations to the Kaua‘i Fire Department (they had a good vantage point to video) for winning this year’s Holly Jolly event that took place before the holiday crunch. According to Soncy Tamashiro, the Finance Department was second and the Public Works guys were third. Actually, they were all good!
OK, now that Christmas is done, it’s time to check out the mochi for New Year’s. And, don’t forget KIF soccer is today at Hanapepe Stadium.
