A third incident involving an unruly visitor at Lihu‘e Airport within a week occurred Wednesday afternoon.
Saturday, a 55-year-old man was arrested after assaulting flight attendants, and an entire family was counseled by police Tuesday after disrupting an American Airlines flight.
At 4:57 p.m. Wednesday, Kaua‘i police officers were dispatched to Lihu‘e Airport in response to a report of an unruly man at the Hawaiian Airlines ticket counter.
According to witnesses, the man, identified as Cator Donahue, 22, of Eugene, Ore., was with his mother and attempting to purchase a ticket to Maui. Reportedly, he became agitated and smashed the kiosk machine.
Airport security arrived and restrained Donahue, who could be heard yelling profanities and verbally challenging the security officers.
Police officers arrived on the scene and were directed to the area behind the rental car booths, where the confrontation with Donahue had moved to. Officers discovered that Donahue was on the ground and handcuffed by airport security officers.
Two airport security officers were injured as a result of the altercation with Donahue. Police officer James Rodriguez sustained a contusion to his head when Donahue head-butted the officer as he was being searched.
Donahue was charged for criminal property damage, assault, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and assault of a police officer.
Donahue is currently being held at cellblock. Bail is set at $6,450.
