Tickets for the 6th Annual Sweetheart Ball sponsored by Kaua‘i Diabetes Today are now available, said Eric Nordmeier, ticket chair for the event.
The event will be from 6 to 11 p.m., Feb. 7, at the Hilton Kaua‘i Beach Resort, with music being provided by Da Ohana Band.
Additionally, door prizes and a grand prize will be available. In a release from Nordmeier, the winner for the Grand Prize must be present to win.
Kaua‘i Diabetes Today was founded to help get the word out to the people on how life-threatening diabetes can be if left untreated.
With this theme in mind, there will be displays and speakers discussing diabetes education, dancing for exercise and nutritional information available for ball celebrants.
Another facet of Kaua‘i Diabetes Today is the promotion of eating proper foods, exercising and education in the area of diabetes.
The organization hosts two major events, starting with the Sweetheart Ball that serves as the major fundraiser for the organization.
In August, Kaua‘i Diabetes Today coordinates medical professionals and the general public in a free Summer Bash where the medical professionals present identifying and treating diabetes as it pertains to their specialized fields.
Diabetes can be controlled in many cases. However, it depends on the stage and type as to what treatment will be prescribed by medical professionals. People who are not aware of their status and have a family history of diabetes should be consulting with a medical professional.
