Peter Rayno was able to enjoy the Starlighters on Friday night before having a busy day Saturday. Peter was up early to be part of the Kaua‘i Senior Softball season opener in Waimea before having to get to Kapa‘a and officiate two basketball games.
Similarly, Calvin Paleka was everywhere Saturday, starting with the KIF swim meet in Kapa‘a, then the KIF soccer games in Hanapepe and finally having to close down the Bernice Hundley Gym following the four basketball games there.
Thank heaven for people like Lisa Iida who does a great job recording the numbers at the basketball games. Michelle Lemy said Lisa is only in the ninth grade, but already has a lot of experience. And, she gets a fried Spam musubi (Lanaly Cabalo is dying to try one out) as a bonus. Lanaly got some coach Pedro Saligumba and Bobby Kamakele chili at the soccer games, instead.
Manu Crabbe was enjoying the KIF regatta with Jeff Dorn, and coach Sean Andrade was checking out the paddling races as well. Sean said they were supposed to do a 13 Under scrimmage, but because of the rescheduled KIF basketball games, was able to get to the races in Wailua. The 13 Under league starts in February and Sean is already anticipating the Brick Oven Pizza stop in Wailua on the way home from Kilauea games.
