KEKAHA — A brushfire that broke out in the vicinity of the old streetlight on Koke‘e Road scorched approximately one acre yesterday afternoon, a county news release states. No one was injured in the fire and no structures were threatened.

It was the third brushfire on Kaua‘i in the past four days.
A caller alerted police dispatch about the fire at around 1:51 p.m. Engine 7, Truck 7, Truck 5, Rescue 3 and Battalion Chief 3 responded.
The fire was deemed under control at 3:15 p.m.
Fire officials said although it has been rainy these past few weeks, things are starting to dry out.
Residents are urged to be vigilant when doing backyard burns and not throw cigarettes out of vehicles, county officials said.
