This hilarious 80-minute comedy is a series of seven sketches that explore various relationships. The two-woman cast play the roles of both men and women ranging from five year olds in church to barflies in a honky-tonk bar. The show is a playful post-feminist satire that in many ways is a celebration of the diversity of women’s perspectives and experiences. “Parallel Lives” will play for three consecutive weekends through March 8. Performances are at 7 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 4 p.m. Sundays. Ticket costs: adults, $20; students and seniors, $15. Seating is limited to 40 seats per show. Reservations are required. E Kanikapila Kakou is an informal backyard Hawaiian music jam session promoting aloha through song among Kaua‘i residents by showcasing Hawai‘i’s diverse and talented composers, musicians and kumu hula sharing songs and chants. This week the duo Kupaoa Music with Lihau Hannahs and Kellen Paik perform. The two are new to EKK. This Garden Island Arts Council sponsored event happens every Monday through April.

Kidjo garnered her first Grammy Award last year winning “Best Contemporary World Album” for “Djin Djin.” Produced by Tony Visconti, “Djin Djin” saw the Benin-born Kidjo partnering with such luminaries as Alicia Keys, Peter Gabriel, Carlos Santana, Josh Groban, Joss Stone, Ziggy Marley and Branford Marsalis to create an album which is truly global in scope. In her acceptance speech, Kidjo dedicated her award to the “women of Darfur, the women who are fighting every day to give their kids an education.” Kidjo devotes much of her adult life to global charity work; she is a spokesperson for both OXFAM and UNICEF.
Kaua‘i Concert Association’s mission is to bring world class music to Kaua‘i. The organization currently presents an eight-concert season with a variety of classical, dance, jazz and world music. KCA also offers scholarship and educational services.

Kaua‘i Society of Artists is accepting entries from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Kukui Grove. All KSA artists, including new and renewing members, will be eligible to enter one piece in any media with no size limit. This is not a juried show. All work that meets entry criteria will be displayed. For full entry criteria visit kauaisocietyofartists.org
The Members Show exhibit opens on Feb. 28 and runs through March 27. Although there will be no judge or juror for this show, KSA plans to hold a People’s Choice Award. Participating artists and gallery visitors will cast votes for their favorite artworks, with cash and other awards to be presented at a closing reception at the end of the show.
