Art Umezu, Kaua‘i’s film commissioner, said Kapa‘a High School student Daphne Sanchez (still can’t get over that Homecoming gig at halftime) is doing extremely well.
Daphne is featured in a full page on the February/March issue of “Girls Life,” photographed by Kicka Witte of Miami who has relocated to Kaua‘i. This is Daphne’s second feature for GL — she was also featured in the December/January issue.
Now, she’s off this week to perform at the Brown Bags to Stardom event in Honolulu. Then, it’s off to Japan to perform as “Miss Daffy” at the Spa Resort Hawaiians this spring and summer.
Capt. Barry Compagnoni, sector commander of the USCG, said the Nawiliwili Moorings crew was selected for a USCG campaign to recruit more women. Compagnoni was one of the speakers at Friday’s Ocean Safety Awareness Conference.
Seems like Kaua‘i is getting a lot of air time as Joyce Evens and Thomas Nizo worked out a live streaming video event of the Waimea Town Celebration.
Josh Pajela said the www.hawaiistream.com people even did a live event of Larry Rivera’s Friday night show and had an audience of more than a 100 hits. Did that include his son in Boston?
With all this kind of off-island notoriety, mahalo to Paul Togioka for the Grammy’s T-shirt! That comes on the heels of a Mokulele Air T-shirt that was courtesy of Edee Bandman, Mokulele’s Kaua‘i marketing person who was in Waimea at the Mokulele booth.
