Jeremy Fry has now won five stand-up paddleboard titles in a row. Fry, of Princeville, has won competitions in California and New York and now he has won a title in his own backyard. Most recently, Fry won his stand-up paddleboard division at the Hawai‘i Surfing Federation competition on Saturday at Kealia.
Riding his 8-foot-10, 30 3/4 by 4 1/2 Pocket Rocket stand-up paddle, one of Wave Rod Hawai‘i’s new “808” models, Fry won his heat and automatically advanced to the finals in his division, which featured 16 riders.
Fry is the co-owner of Wave Rod Hawai‘i, a stand-up paddleboard manufacturer based in Princeville. Fry plans on competing in another contest in May.
