Honolulu’s Parker McLachlin missed the cut at the Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill, after shooting a Round 2, 4-over 74 to finish 13-over 153 for the tournament.
The Punahou grad shot a bogey-ridden round on Friday with six bogeys, a double bogey on the par-3 17th and shot four birdies.
McLachlin started on the back nine with a birdie on the par-4 10th, parred the next hole and got to 2 under after a birdie on the par-5 12th. McLachlin got into trouble once he hit the dog-leg right, par-4 15th. He shot bogey and another on No. 16, but dropped further down the leaderboard with the double bogey on No. 17. By the time he made the turn, McLachlin was at 3 over.
He rattled off three straight bogeys on holes No. 2 through 4 to sit at 5 over. McLachlin closed off the round with a birdie on the ninth.
McLachlin was eight shots off from making the cut which was set at 145. Sean O’Hair is the lone leader at 5-under 132.
This is the third cut McLachlin has missed in a row, his fourth overall since the start of the season. McLachlin’s best finish of the year so far was last month at the FBR Open where he finished tied for 17th.
