Arnold Leong is going to check out the West Kaua‘i Hongwanji Mission’s Flying Saucer fundraiser for the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Hanapepe Temple on April 19.
The WK Hongwanji has always participated with teams at the ACS Relay for Life and if you want a ticket, check out Rev. Kojun Hashimoto or Alton Miyamoto at the Hanamatsuri. Who said you have to wait until Bon Dance for flying saucers?
Bob and Lenore Klass were enjoying lunch at Kukui Grove, and since it was lunchtime, the talk circulated around food. Seems like one of Lenore’s recipes for pies might be involved in a Bake Off on the Mainland. Lenore has been a consistent baking winner at the Kaua‘i County Farm Bureau Fair and appears to be expanding her horizons.
Bob is an afficionado of good chili, and now that Lanaly Cabalo is off to O‘ahu, he might be the only source on who has the good chili. Good luck to Lanaly on her O‘ahu ventures … if the hunger bug strikes, there’s always Zippy’s.
Finally, Happy Birthday to Rotary Club of Po‘ipu Beach’s Peter Sterne who has his birthday today. And Happy Birthday to Lee Bedwell of the Rotary Club of Po‘ipu Beach who should be recovering after celebrating his day yesterday.
• Editor’s Note: Legendary photographer and staff writer Dennis Fujimoto celebrated his birthday Friday.
