With just three weekends left before the start of the playoffs, there are still six unbeaten teams in Kaua‘i Soccer Association 2009 Spring Season play.
Westside Falcons BU10 (7-0-1) in the under-10 boys age group, Westside Falcons BU12 (6-0-0) in the boys under-12 division, Kaua‘i Soccer Club-Blazing Angels (7-0-0) in the girls under-12 division, Eastside Lightning (7-0-1) in the boys under-14 class, Ha‘aheo Kaua‘i (6-0-0) in the girls under-14 division, and KSC-Na Anela (6-0-1) in the girls under-18 class, all have not lost a single game during the current season.
There are seven teams with just one loss each, and the 47 teams this spring represents a record both for numbers of teams and numbers of players.
There are so many teams that one field can’t accommodate all the games on any one day, so the older division teams play most Sundays at Vidinha Stadium or the north Vidinha soccer fields.
The top four teams in each division qualify for the playoffs, which start on Saturday, May 2, and end Saturday, May 9, in single-elimination format.
There are three divisions with no unbeaten teams: boys and girls under-8; girls under-10; and boys under-18.
