The Audio Visual Company made the donation and announced the two winners at the 2009 Hawai‘i Education Technology Conference and Expo recently at the Neal Blaisdell Exhibition Hall, a news release states.
The equipment and installation for the two Interactive Classrooms are valued at $34,000. An additional SMART Board was donated to Central Middle School, another entrant in the contest, as a “bonus prize” due the high volume of entries AVCO received in response to the contest.

They were also required to list three problems the school had experienced with the present AV system and three benefits the school will experience by using an integrated audio/visual interactive system. AVCO received over 100 entries from public and private schools across the state.
The winning schools received a SMART Board 77-inch electronic interactive whiteboard, Samsung DVD/VHS combo player deck, Sharp 2600 lumens DLP projector, Samsung Digital Visual Presenter, Extron Polevault System with Medialink Control System and speakers, Lenovo Ideapad notebook computer, VFI Multimedia Cart, four hours of on-site training and professional installation.
