Mariah Oliver, one of the 13 Under Kaulupono girls, got to watch her brother Bobby play, but was distracted with all that teenage talk and re-putting-up her hair after her pin broke.
Kori Sakamoto was glad Spring Break is over since she worked at Lappert’s (Koloa) every day of the break. She was helping with the Kaulupono practice along with Aiko Grande before adjourning for a Subway sandwich.
Atlee Austin-Taylor (she’s Louie Abrams’ sister) normally is the representative for the Tibetan Buddhist Center in presenting Hanamatsuri flowers, but missed this year’s service because she is getting ready for the Tibetan Buddhist teacher, Thursday night.
Cory Oride missed this year’s service because he and the other Boy Scouts from Troop 83 were busy putting up the fence at the Lihu‘e Hongwanji Preschool (don’t forget Kodomo no Hi, April 26).
And congratulations to Larry Rivera on the christening of “Kamalani,” the double-hulled canoe. When “Kamalani” the song first came out, no one in Honolulu believed there was a song featuring the frogs in the Coco Palms lagoon. Now, there’s a canoe to keep the frogs company.
