Hatsuno Nishikawa
Hatsuno “Betty” Nishikawa of Waimea died on May 20, 2009, in her home at age 93. Born July 15, 1915, in San Gabriel, Calif., she was a sales clerk with J. Okada Store.
She is survived by son Harris Nishikawa of Waimea; daughter Carol (Richard) Rodriguez of Pueblo, Colo.; grandchildren Eve and Daniel Nishikawa; sisters Terri Kimura of Colorado, Lillian Bayquen of California, Kit Mizukami of California, Marilyn Watari of California; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation from 10-11 a.m., service at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 6, at Kalaheo Missionary Church. Casual attire suggested; flowers to be omitted.
Arrangements are being handled by Garden Island Mortuary.
Gintar Mikaitis
Gintar Ronald Mikaitis of Anahola died May 24, 2009, at age 66. Born May 7, 1943 in Lithuania, he was a retired salesman for the Kirby Company.
He is survived by wife Hiilani Mikaitis of Anahola; daughter Nani (Mac) McClintic of Anahola; sons Kaleo (Cindy) Mikaitis of Anahola, Guy (Lina) Thompson of Washington; brothers Charlie (Dawn) Mikaitis of Massachusetts, Vern (Susan) Mikaitis of New Jersey; hanai daughter Maluhi Paleafea of O‘ahu; two grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial services to be held Saturday, May 30, at Kingdom Hall Jehovah’s Witness Church in Kapa‘a with visitation at 2 p.m. and service at 3 p.m.
Arrangements are by Borthwick Kaua‘i Mortuary in Koloa.
Glorietta Kaleiohi
Glorietta Kuuleihanauiiome Kaleiohi of Anahola died May 19, 2009, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at age 56. She was born Aug. 4, 1952, in Kapa‘a.
She was preceded in death by parents Ephraim and Roberta Kaleiohi.
She is survived by life partner Valerie Paulo; son Brennan (Alisha Abalos) Kaleiohi of Hilo; daughter Brandi-Lee Kaleiohi of Koloa; granddaughters Breannah and Savannah Kaleiohi; brothers Ephraim Kaleiohi III of Anahola, Edward Kaleiohi of Kapa‘a, and Job Kane of Anahola; sisters G’Nell Vea of Anahola, Mitzie Kaleiohi of Anahola, Tanaia Kaleiohi of Anahola, Corina Kaleiohi of Anahola, and Olandra Kaleiohi of Hanama‘ulu; hanai brothers Kingsley Guillen and Peter Lopez; and hanai sister Yukie-Lynn De Silva.
Memorial services will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, May 30, at Kalapaki Beach Park; visitation at 9:30 a.m. Scattering to follow.
Evillo Abreu
Evillo Abreu of Kekaha died May 25, 2009, at home at age 79. Born May 11, 1930, in Koloa, he was a mechanic with Waimea Garage.
He is survived by brothers Ulderico (Betty) Abreu of California, Fibrium Abreu of Hanapepe, Juvino (Carol) Abreu of Waimea, Andres (Marcia) Emayo of Kaumakani; sisters Rosita (Henry) Santiago of Kekaha, Anita Emayo of Honolulu, Conchita (Warren) Fossum of Montana; numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be Saturday, May 30, at St. Joseph Church at Kaumakani with visitation from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., service at 12:30 p.m. and interment at 2:30 p.m. at Kaua‘i Veterans Cemetery in Hanapepe.
Arrangements are being handled by Garden Island Mortuary.
Kenneth Deitz
Kenneth Leroy Deitz of Lihu‘e died May 26, 2009 at The Regency at Puakea at age 72. Born April 4, 1937 in Covina, Calif., he retired as a civil engineer.
He was preceded in death by parents Carr and Ella Deitz.
He is survived by daughter Kristin (Dennis) Liphart; grandchildren Jacob and Katin Liphart of Wisconsin (formerly of Kapa‘a); and sister Marilyn Stewart of LaJolla, Calif.
Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home assisted the Deitz family with arrangements.
Cindy Rojas
Cindy Ah Lun Haunani Rojas of Anahola, died on May 17, 2009 in her home at age 52. Born on Jan. 18, 1957, she worked as a concierge and other various positions in the hotel industry.
She was preceded in death by parents Muriel and Zacarias Rojas, brother Timothy Surveyor and sister Michelle Escoto.
She is survived by daughter Kamala Rojas; sisters Flora (Pedro) Camalliri, Ruth Surveyor, Josephine (Tomas) Refamonte, Mona Mae Caldeira, June “Dolly” Chang, Marcia Patterson, Kathlen Andrew, Karen Singson, Jessie Saulson, Judy Cooper and Lisa Allen; brothers Edwin Caldeira and David Surveyor Jr.; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation at 8-9 a.m., on May 29, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Kapa’a. Services will be held from 9-10 a.m. and inurnment at 1 p.m. at Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens.
Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home assisted the Rojas family with arrangements.
