Keliikoa Baclayon and James Steven netted a bucket each in overtime, their only scores of the game, to lead Hanakila to a 38-36 win over Team Central as the Kaua‘i Youth Basketball Association resumed its 14 and Under program Monday night following the weekend invitational at the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center.
Hanakila held Team Central to just a pair of charity shots in overtime from Matthew Cummings in the win that was led by Marlon Cudiamat and James Paik each finishing with 10 points.
Daniel Reis posted seven points, including a second-quarter bomb from outside the three-point arc and Kala Kauhane added five second-half points.
Matthew Cummings led the Team Central effort with a game-high 15 points followed by Cameron Simao finishing with 13 points and Denmark Aladin adding five points.
Earlier in the evening, Lauren Claypoole finished with a game-high 20 points to lead the Gee’s Angels to a 33-32 margin over Kaulupono, which was led by Casey Anacleto scoring eight points.
Cheyanne Duarte and Sanoe Kaohelaulii added seven and five points, respectively for Kaulupono. Reggie McCabe followed Claypoole’s lead with six points.
Mikal Moranz and Fresno Masaniai each ended the night with a dozen points to lead the G-Unit B to a 46-12 showing over the G-Unit A in the final game.
Following Moranz and Masaniai, Una Masaniai finished with 11 points for the G-Unit B and Wheeler Batol led the G-Unit A effort with eight points.
