PO‘IPU — Waimea High School student Natasha Abadilla was on hand to receive her $500 prize from Robert Ray of the Rotary Club of Po‘ipu Beach, last week.
Abadilla was named one of three winners in the Hawai‘i Rotary 4-Way Test Essay Contest, Ray said in presenting her with a certificate as well as the prize.
The daughter of Susella and Danny Abadilla, Natasha will be reading her winning essay at the Hawai‘i District Rotary convention on May 23 at Turtle Bay on O‘ahu.
Ray said Abadilla was only one of three winners out of a field of 120 entrants.
The win adds to Natasha’s list of accomplishments which include placing first in the Girls 400 Meter Dash at the Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation track meet, recently.
She also finished second to fellow Menehune Caralyn Broyles in the Girls 1500 Meter Run and third in the Girls 3000 Meter Run at that same event.
The Rotary 4-Way test was developed by Rotarian and entrepreneur Herbert J. Taylor during the Great Depression as a set of guidelines for restoring faltering businesses and was adopted as the standard of ethics by the Rotary International in 1942.
The Rotary 4-Way test is still considered a standard for ethics in business management and asks: Is it the truth? Is it fair to all concerned? Will it build goodwill and better friendships? Will it be beneficial to all concerned?
