LIHU‘E — Five girls 14 and Under teams and five boys 14 and Under teams start the summer league starting this Thursday at the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center.
Coach Cecil Gee and William Aki will combine to coach a girls team, the Gee’s Angels and two boys’ teams, the G-Unit A and the G-Unit B, states a schedule released by the Kaua‘i Youth Basketball League.
Keven Hanano will bring the Kamikaze to the floor and Chuck Hanie will be at the helm of the Kapa‘a Titaz.
Kaulupono and Waimea will open the season in the inaugural game starting at 6 p.m.
Coach Bobby Kamakele and Pedro Saligumba share coaching responsibilities for Kaulupono and Coach Elton Montemayor is at the head of the Waimea squad.
Clarence Sales, successful as the coach of the undefeated 11 Under Team Central in the county’s program, will lead the Team Central 14 and Under boys team against the G-Unit A in the 7 p.m. game.

The league takes a break during the Memorial Day weekend as the KYBA hosts the Girls 14 Under Invitational tournament.
Starting May 25, the boys play on Mondays for two games and the girls play on Thursdays for two games.
The season ends on July 13 with the championships.
