It’s two for one adoptions for cats during June at the Kaua‘i Humane Society.
“One of the kindest contributions the public can make is to adopt a new pet and give it the love and care it desperately needs,” states Dr. Becky Rhoades, Executive Director of Kaua‘i Humane Society in a press release. “By celebrating June as Love-a-Cat Month, the Kaua‘i Humane Society aims to raise awareness of the life and death situations faced by so many homeless cats every year here on Kaua‘i.”
The adoption fee is $50 for two felines. Each cat is spayed or neutered, microchipped and provided with basic preventative health care. Adoptive families will receive a free bag of Nutro cat food and an “Adopt a Cat” DVD.
New this year is the introduction of the new “Adopt a Cat” T-shirt created for Kaua‘i Humane Society by Crazy Shirts. Funds raised by the sale of T-shirts help fund the many services provided for homeless cats on Kaua‘i. New shirts will be available for $20 starting June 15.
Feline Fix Day is June 24 at Lihu‘e Hongwanji Mission. Free mobile spay/neuter and $5 microchip ID services for cats. Donations welcome. Leave cat with the “Aloha for Animal” bus between 8 and 10 a.m. and pick up the same day between 1 and 3 p.m.
Humane cat traps are available the weekend before to assist with containing cats for surgery. All cats need to be brought in a personal carrier. Look for the “Aloha for Animal” bus in Kapa‘a in July and in Kilauea in August. For more information visit kauaihumane.org.
