Beach clean-up Saturday at Shipwrecks
To celebrate International Surfing Day, Surfrider Kaua‘i will be organizing a beach clean-up, beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday at Shipwrecks.
There will be contests for various types of clean-up items, including ugliest and smelliest item found, with surf prizes for the winners.
The Grand Hyatt, among others will be giving out food and beverages to participants.
All gloves and trash bags will be provided.

ZZ Hoops basketball tournament
The ZZ Hoops Basketball Tournament will begin today at the Kaua‘i High School gym.
Four 12 & Under and six 14 & Under teams will be competing. The games begin at 4 p.m. today and will conclude with the championship games on Saturday.
Kaua‘i High School looking for coaches
Applications for coaches in the Kaua‘i High School Air Riflery and Tennis programs are currently being accepted.
Positions are for both the boys and girls programs, said Ross Shimabukuro, the Kaua‘i High School athletic director.

Demo Day at Poipu Bay
Poipu Bay Golf Course will host a free “Demo Day” on Saturday, June 27, providing golfers the opportunity to experience the latest in golf equipment. Representatives from Titleist and Cobra will be on hand, presenting their newest products. Golfers can try out the golf clubs on the driving range and get fitted for custom clubs on the spot using the new Titleist fitting cart for proper lie, shaft flex, and heads.
Demo Day will take place at the driving range from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Additionally, guests at Demo Day can enter to win a round of golf for four at Poipu Bay.
Poipu Bay Golf Course is an 18-hole championship course, situated on 210 oceanfront acres on Kauai’s southern coast, adjacent to the Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort & Spa. For more information, contact the Poipu Bay Golf Shop at 742-8711.
North Shore fishing tournament
Blackwater International Inc., maker of fishing lines, will be co-sponsoring the Blackwater North Shore Fishing Tournament on Aug. 1. The event will take place at Hanalei Bay with weigh-ins at the Hanalei Pier.
Boats will be checked in starting at 3:30 a.m. with an official start time of 5:30 a.m. The event will conclude at 7 p.m.
