Despite economic and global meltdowns, Kaua‘i has a real kind of currency impervious to global instability — its community members — where working together is how ideas, innovations and services thrive.
Leadership Kaua‘i is an organization committed to developing this currency by affecting positive change on the island through programs bent on developing community minded leaders who are culturally and morally aware.
Modeled after successful leadership programs nationwide and then customized for Kaua‘i’s culture and needs, Leadership Kaua‘i has developed a number of programs for both youth and adults in programs like Adult Leadership, the Speaker Series, the Alumni Network and Ka Ulu Pono Career Awareness, to name a few.
July 6 is the deadline for applications for the Adult Leadership program which takes participants through 14 sessions over a nine month period engaging in a team project component and exploring the importance of Hawaiian values. The program begins in August and ends with graduation in June. To apply visit leadershipkauai.org.
The program educates, inspires and motivates its participants to develop a philanthropic spirit of giving back and serving the community. To date, Leadership Kaua‘i has produced over 17 community initiatives and collaborated with many more.
The objectives for the programs include self-development, self-awareness and improved goal setting skills of participants; increased knowledge of leadership principles and their application in life endeavors; experience and competence in working collaboratively with others on community issues and a bonded, intra-island network of participants with shared values, experiences and skills.
June 19 the program graduated 21 leaders. The celebration took place at the Kaua‘i Marriott Resort and Beach Club with over 200 in attendance.
