Application forms for the Lego construction project are available at the University of Hawai‘i Cooperative Extension Service Office, Room 210 of the state office building, said Lenore Klass, coordinator of the Home Economics Show.
With school starting as early as Monday for some students on the island, there is time for students to work on projects through teams such as the Lego Club at Kalaheo School, Klass said.
Students may also work on individual projects and submit those.
Other schools that have Lego Clubs are encouraged to have students engage in projects for the Kaua‘i County Farm Bureau Fair where they may have an opportunity to win prizes in addition to ribbons for their accomplishments.
General requirements call for the project not to exceed 15 inches wide by 15 inches long by 15 inches high. Projects are due at the fair from 9 a.m. to noon, Aug. 27.
The Lego project is open to juniors only and must not be made from a kit.
More specific rules and requirements are found in the General Information and Rules available at the UH Cooperative Extension Service.
