LIHU‘E — Canadian air carrier WestJet announced Wednesday it will begin round-trip flights between Kaua‘i and Vancouver in December.
WestJet, a Calgary-based airline, announced Wednesday it would start twice-weekly service between Vancouver, a coastal Canadian seaport about 150 miles north of Seattle, and the Garden Island.
Flights will depart on Wednesdays and Saturdays beginning Dec. 16, and will cost $349, according to the WestJet Web site.
The Web site, which mistakenly spelled the county seat as “Liheu” on one page, described the island as “the northernmost island in Hawai‘i and quite easily the most spectacular.”
“If relaxing in a tropical paradise is what you are looking for, Kaua‘i is for you,” the site said. “With exquisite scenery, idyllic beaches, lazy rivers and lush valleys, it is hard to imagine a more beautiful place to relax and unwind.”
