James McLane
James Henry McLane of Wailea, Maui, died July 18, 2009, in Wailea at age 91. Born on March 4, 1918, he was the co-founder of McLane Manufacturing.
He is survived by son Patrick and daughter Diane.
Graveside service at 2 p.m., on Saturday, Aug. 1, at St. Catherine’s Church Cemetery, Kapa‘a.
Lambert Alapai Jr.
Lambert “Kela” Paul Lukela Alapai Jr. of Kapa‘a died July 20, 2009, at Kaiser Moanalua Hospital at age 32. Born on Sept. 12, 1976, in Lihu‘e, he was a painter.
He is survived by parents Lambert and Karen Alapai Sr.; fiancé Christy Pimental; sons Kana‘i Oliver, Kyler Davis, Keawe Alapai-Pimental; daughter Zaiana Alapai-Pimental; brother Kanbert Alapai; sister Jacklyn Alapai; grandparents Flora Iseri, Harry (Patricia) Higashi, Michiko Higashi; numerous aunties, uncles, nieces, nephews cousins and friends.
Visitation from 9-10:45 a.m., Mass at 11 a.m., on Wednesday, July 29, at St. Catherine’s Church in Kapa‘a. Burial to follow at Kapa‘a Public Cemetery, followed by a celebration of life held at Kapa‘a baseball park.
Rosario Acosta
Rosario Bigay Acosta of Puhi died on July 15, 2009, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at age 93. Born on Sept. 21, 1915, in Koloa, she retired as a pineapple trimmer with Kaua‘i Pineapple Canneries.
She was preceded in death by her husband Alberto Acosta; children Roger, Raymond and Caroline Abiva.
She is survived by her son Allen (Eunice) Acosta of San Diego; daughter Katherine Acosta of California; sister Mary (Joe) Miers of California; daughter-in-law Juanita Acosta of O‘ahu; caregiver/granddaughter Michelle “Roz” Acosta; seven grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of her life will be held on Tuesday, July 28, at Immaculate Conception Church with viewing from 8 to 9:45 a.m. and Mass at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens.

Agripina Ganiban
Agripina Agoto Agno Ganiban of Hanama‘ulu died on June 28, 2009, at Garden Isle Healthcare at age 92. Born on June 20, 1919, in Sarrat, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, she retired from Snow White Laundry.
She is survived by husband Santiago B. Ganiban of Hanama‘ulu; daughter Carmen G. (Monico) Balico of Hanama‘ulu; sister Mercedes Agno of the Philippines; brothers Agustin (Teresa) Agno of Honolulu, Bert (Matea) Agno of Kealia, Florentino Agno and Raphael Agno of the Philippines; five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, Aug. 1, at Immaculate Conception Church with viewing from 8:30 to 9:45 a.m. and Mass celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens.
Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home assisted the Ganiban family with arrangements.
Kikue Yama
Kikue Kay Yama of Lihu‘e died July 23, 2009, at the Regency at Puakea at age 95. Born on Sept. 18, 1913, in Okinawa, she retired as an airport greeter for the State of Hawai‘i’s Visitor’s Information Bureau.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Toshiharu Yama; and brothers, Shigeru Tamayose and Minoru Tamayose.
She is survived by daughter Karen (Greg) Moberg of Rochester, N.Y.; son Eric (Lauri) Yama of Lihu‘e; brothers George Tamayose of California and Wallace (Amy) Tamayose of Washington; sister Florence Abernathy of Florida; grandchildren Emily (Dirk) Robinson, Laura (Brian) Lavoie, Jennifer Moberg, David Moberg, Lauren Yama and Kimberly Yama; and great-grandchildren Micah and Shiloh Robinson.
Visitation is 10-11 a.m., service at 11 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 8, at Lihu‘e Baptist Church. Casual attire is suggested; flowers are omitted.
