LIHU‘E — The public is invited to attend a Crime Prevention Seminar scheduled this Friday at the Kaua‘i Marriott Resort and Beach Club, with registration beginning at 8:30 a.m., a county news release states.
The event is co-sponsored by the Kaua‘i Chamber of Commerce, Kaua‘i Visitors Bureau, Hawai’i Hotel Visitor Industry Security Association and the County of Kaua‘i.
The cost to attend the seminar for Chamber members is $20. For non-Chamber members, the cost is $30.
“I encourage the public, especially businesses, to attend this crime prevention seminar,” Mayor Bernard Carvalho Jr. said in the release. “A lot of valuable information will be presented by public safety and other officials on how to avoid becoming victims of property crime.”
Among the featured speakers are: Assistant Chief Roy Asher, head of the Kaua‘i Police Department’s Investigative Services Bureau; Police Commissioner Charles Iona; Randy Francisco, president of the Kaua‘i Chamber of Commerce, and representatives of local security and surveillance companies.
Some of topics that will be covered are: crime trends; electronic surveillance tools; KPD strategies; lessons from hotel security professionals; Neighborhood Watch Program; role of the Kaua‘i Police Commission; TSA’s new rules for travelling; and the Visitor Aloha Society.
