Evelyn Branco of Kapa‘a died Aug. 9, 2009, at her home at age 54. Born on May 13, 1955, in Lihu‘e, she was a fiscal officer with the Kaua‘i Police Department.
She was preceded in death by her father Augustine Abara, mother-in-law Mabel Branco and niece Caryn Abara.
She is survived by her husband Allan Branco; son Justin (Brittni) Branco of Newberg, Ore.; daughter Kristin (Puna Holt) Branco of Kapa‘a; granddaughter Kayla Branco-Maxwell of Kapa‘a; mother Mary Abara; brothers Orlando (Carol) Abara, Rudy (Juanita) Abara and William (Rochelle) Abara; sisters Eva (Bobby) Cuaresma and Lani (Jimmy) Cuaresma; father-in-law Ernest Branco; brother-in-law Jeffery Branco; sister-in-law Donna (Kenton) Gomes; numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation from 8-10 a.m., Mass at 10 a.m., on Tuesday, Aug. 18, at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church. Burial to follow at St. Catherine’s Church Cemetery.
Casual attire is suggested; flowers are accepted.
Arrangements are being handled by Garden Island Mortuary, Ltd.
Soloman Williams
Solomon Bean Williams of Lihu‘e died at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on Aug. 12, 2009, at age 90. Born in Kealia, Kaua‘i on Feb. 25, 1919, he retired as the administrator of Kaua‘i County Civil Defense.
He was preceded in death by his wife Adeline Williams and son Russell Williams.
He is survived by his son, Kaimi (Denise) Williams of Anahola; daughters, Sheralyn Williams of Lihu‘e, Waiola Fields of the Big Island; 11 grandchildren, Keone Williams, Michelle Hembrador, Christine Farias, Kaimana Williams, Kala‘e Fields, Keahiahi Ishizu, Ikaika Fields, Koa Williams, Ku‘ule‘a Williams; step-grandchildren, Malia Barnett, Michael Barnett, 15 great-grandchildren; brothers, Rev. Gaylord (June) Williams of Lihu‘e, Rev. Gilbert Williams of Honolulu, Abraham Williams of Lahaina, Maui, Bernard (Julie) Williams of Honolulu, Benjamin Williams of Wailua Homesteads and brother-in-law T. Kaipo Chandler Sr. of Ha‘ena.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, Aug. 22, at Lihu‘e First Church with visitation from 8:30 a.m. and services beginning at 10 a.m., officiated by Rev. Gaylord Williams. Burial will follow at Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens at 11:30 a.m.
Casual attire is suggested and family graciously declines flowers.
Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home assisted the Williams family with arrangements.
George Oishi
George Akira Oishi of Kapa‘a died at home on July 24, 2009, at age 84. He was born in Waimea, Kaua‘i on Dec. 29, 1924, and retired as a carpenter.
He is survived by his wife Jeanette; daughters, Jewel (Derek) Young of Honolulu, Iris (William) Silva of Lihu‘e; sons, Michael (Jolene Spence) Oishi and Mitchell (Lorrie) Oishi both of Kapa‘a; sisters, Miyoko Hama of Kapa‘a, Yuriko Hamada of Honolulu; brothers, Tamotsu (Carol) Oishi and Toshio Oishi both of Honolulu; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Private services were held.
Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home assisted the Oishi family with arrangements.
Clint Oba
Clint Shayne Keoni Oba Sr. of Ocean View, Hawai‘i, formerly of Koloa, died Aug. 1, 2009, in Ewa Beach, Hawai‘i, at age 53. Born July 11, 1956, in Waipahu, Hawai‘i, he was an operating engineer.
He is surived by his wife, Tanya Kuahuia; former wife, Tammy Oba; sons, Keoni (Wainani Hose) and Blaisdell (Keona) Oba; daughter, Mona Oba (Keith Daniels); parents, Joseph and Linda Oba; brothers, Hugh Whitford, Saichi Oba and Joshua Oba; sisters, Huellyn Whitford, Dayna Mora, Anita Kaupiko and Dilla Oba; and two grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, Aug. 29, at Holualoa Imin Center in Kona, Hawai‘i. Visitation is at 9:30 a.m.; service at 10:30 a.m. Casual attire.
Arrangements are by Ultimate Cremation Services of Hawai‘i.
