Roberta Charles said the funnest part of Movies in the Park is talking with Ron Wiley (he was at the Paradise Ride) trying to give away free tickets.
Roberta was helping at the bicycle safety clinic (Hats off to the Rotary Club of Po‘ipu Beach and Malama Pono) along with Maite Rivera-Sainz, a Rotary exchange student from Chile who is staying with Nancy Kanna for at least three months.
On the subject of exchange students, Gary Maguire, coach of the Kapa‘a High School girls volleyball team, has two exchange students on his team — Lea Sieckmann from Berlin, Germany, and Mariana Cabral of Brazil (she’s into dance, especially jazz, and can even do the capoeira).
Lea is lucky because her host family is Gary’s family, and he said there are two more exchange students on the Kapa‘a High School football team (we’ll see them, Saturday).
And, if you thought the Strongest Man was only for men, watch out! Kelcie Yomen was flipping tires at the Port Allen event, and even got to take a ride on the weight sled with Jason Silva pulling the rig. Mel Rapozo was helping at the event for the veterans and JK (he’s waiting for football to start) was doing the video.
If everything works, Kelcie will be helping coach Keli‘i Morgado when the Warriors take the field, Saturday.
