Mayor Bernard Carvalho Jr. has always expressed his aloha and appreciation for Kaua‘i’s kupuna.
Recently, he took time out to congratulate clients and staff of ‘Ohana Pacific Foundation and the Kaua‘i Adult Day Health Center on the occasion of National Adult Day Services that is being celebrated through Saturday.
The event is designed to raise awareness of the important service provided by adult day services for older adults and persons with disabilities, states a proclamation issued by Carvalho and accepted by the Kaua‘i Adult Day Health Center.
Adult day service centers provide a coordinated program of professional and compassionate services for adults in a community-based group setting and offer social and some health services to adults who need supervised care in a safe place outside the home during the day.
These centers also afford caregivers respite from the demanding responsibilities of caregiving.
National Adult Day Services Week was formed in 1979 and has made great progress in promoting the concept of adult day services as a viable community-based care option for people across the nation.
During the presentation, the county joins the Congress of the United States in paying tribute to the caring and dedicated people who serve the ill, recuperating and aged citizens of the community by providing professional, humanitarian assistance.
