LIHU‘E — Starting next week, the Department of Water will be replacing old pipeline in Lihu‘e Town on the south side of Rice Street from Umi to Kalena streets, a county news release says.
The contract for the Lihu‘e Town Pipeline Replacement Project has been awarded to Cushnie Construction Co. Inc.
The project is scheduled to begin on Umi Street on or around Sept. 14 and progress to the remaining streets with an expected completion date of March 15, 2010.
Work in the business areas, including Rice, Umi, Ewalu, Kress, Kalena and Halenani streets, will be done at night, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., Sunday to Friday.
Working hours on Malama, Hoala and Pala streets, as well as Kalena Drive will take place Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., except on holidays.
Motorists are advised to use caution while driving through the construction areas and allow extra travelling time to get to their destinations.
