And they were not alone. At the White Cane Safety Day, Joanne Steinfort of the East Kaua‘i Lions Club said if people have discarded glasses at home, bring them to the eyeglass collection boxes where they will be shipped to help those stricken by natural disasters everywhere.
Happy birthday and congratulations to Laurie Yoshida on a great job with the Coconut Festival! Aaron Furugen has gotten the family so good at making shave ice that he had time to enjoy the vintage guitar (it looks like a Martin, but when you hear Aaron’s story, it’s priceless).
If you’re looking for something to do, stop by Freaky Friday at Kukui Grove Center. Tiffany Dodge and her Aloha Dance ‘ohana has done a tremendous job with the Haunted House and all of the activities surrounding it. Mary Pigao said the trimmings on the pirate ship are real marine debris the kids went to pick up in Wailua. But Friday night is the night to go since Saturday it’s just the Haunted House.
OK, time to go check out volleyball at Waimea (got to meet Hartley Dabin’s dad Kalani when Mitzi Gaynor arrived).
