LIHU‘E — Life’s Bridges Hawai‘i and the Circle of Lights have joined together in partnership to bring their combined experience to grieving children on Kaua‘i, according to a press release.
Directors Gina Kaulukukui and Melinda Montgomery are excited about joining together and combing resources that benefit Kaua‘i’s youth.
“We’re a match made in heaven,” Kaulukukui said in the release.
“By combining or resources, we can extend the program to more schools, reaching more children,” Montgomery said. “The earlier we reach the children, the more we can facilitate their healing. The children can utilize the tools they learn about coping throughout their lives.”
Circle of Lights is known for its free children’s program in art and Life’s Bridges for its free bereavement services. An essential program of Life’s Bridges, the Good Grief Club was designed as a school-based, peer support group for children of all ages.
The group meets monthly, bringing children together in an environment that is safe and known to them. Through the use of art, children learn about grief, their feelings associated with their grief and tools to help them cope and heal.
