Congratulations to Robert Medeiros and the Hanapepe Pink Panthers on their first season win in AYSO soccer! McKenna Hicks was asking if she was being photographed, and of course, she had two goals in the Panthers’ win over the Lihu‘e Sour Skittles, Thursday!
Melanie Okamoto (her daughter Haley had the winning goal) was going crazy on the spectator side, but Kevin Matsunaga was busy coaching so couldn’t watch his daughter play.
Kevin Gusman came from coaching Kaua‘i Soccer Association to help officiate at the opening round of AYSO playoffs, Tuesday, as did Bill Lemke (now we know KIF soccer is right around the corner).
Mahalo to Tina Albao for providing some of the highlights in Lihu‘e’s 22-14 win over Na Koa, Wednesday night at the American Youth Football league, and mahalo, too, to Jolene Ogle (gotta get down to see the renovated Kaua‘i Marriott) for the scoops on the Visitor Industry Walk reception at the Grand Hyatt Kaua‘i Resort and Spa.
Sandi Kato-Klutke was there, but unfortunately, the KIF girls volleyball championship was on the line, too, so talk about the trash bags for the Lights on Rice parade will have to wait another day.
OK, time to roll out to the Matsuri, the Aloha Festivals’ ho‘olaule‘a. If the sun is out, lunch at the Kaua‘i Community Market sounds like a good idea.
