Congratulations to Kaua‘i Mayor Bernard Carvalho Jr. who became a grandpa, Saturday. Mayor Bernard was in the maternity ward with his daughter as the blessing of the Wilcox Memorial Hospital Infusion Center was taking place.
Beth Tokioka represented Carvalho at the blessing and was busy keeping an eye on the EOC as well as planning ahead to get to Amanda Gregg’s wedding in Waimea. Congratulations and best wishes to Amanda and Imai Aiu!
Kudos to Marissa Sanblom of Grove Farm who was able to run the swap meet despite the threat of heavy rain. Calvin Fukushima joined Kenny Miyoshi at the Masa’s Shave Ice wagon (they’re at Hilo Hattie’s Tuesdays through Fridays, according to Brad Gipolan), and Chris Steuri was able to join his family at the Island School robotics booth where they were selling laulau instead of washing cars.
Sandi Kato-Klutke had the plan… get the hot/cold bags from Edwin Vea (they got new designs!) before heading to the Hanalei Taro lunchwagon across the street for Hawaiian food and poi.
And mahalo to Darlene Schneider who went to the Holy Cross bazaar before setting up at the swap meet. She said almost 500 sweet bread was sold out in 15 minutes after the doors opened.
