LIHU‘E — Three division championships will be on the line starting at noon, Sunday at the North Vidinha fields.
The Kaua‘i Soccer Association is wrapping up its fall season with title matches in the Under 10, Under 12 and Under 14 divisions, after last weekend’s semifinals and the Under 16/18 finals.
James Goode and Mason Vegas, both sporting the pink Ha‘aheo Kaua‘i outfits, nailed two goals apiece to lead the pinkshirts to a 4-0 win over GIFC for that division championship.
Upsets played a big role in two of the remaining three divisions when Drew Vera Cruz of the No. 3 Kaua‘i Sparks blasted a shot past No. 2 Lokahi’s goalkeeper in a shootout to advance 1-0.
The Sparks square off against the top-seeded Westside Falcons, a
5-0 winner over the GIFC-BU12.
Davin Garma, after experiencing the bitter taste of defeat in the AYSO Will Veeck tournament, was not going to let another loss ruin his 11th birthday.
He led the Falcons with a hat trick, netting two goals in the first half, which were followed by goals from Brayden Antonio and Caitlyn-Amber Owen, icing the win.
Joni Hashizume and Cassie Wilson each netted a goal to lead the No. 3 KSC-Blazing Angels to a 2-0 shutout over the No. 2-ranked Hawaiian Heat in a tight defensive battle.
The win advanced the Angels to square off against the top-seeded GIFC-BU14 orangeshirts, who advanced via a 5-0 win over the Kapa‘a Warriors.
Kalen Celebrado Labuguen led the GIFC with two goals, followed by Lucas Gushikuma, Jared Okayama and Kellan Worthmann each adding a score.
Cody Gardner netted two goals and Shane Takeuchi added one to lead the No. 2 Westside Falcons to their 3-1 win over the Extreme Strikers, advancing to the division championship fight. Kylin Arruda-Sukehira nailed the Strikers’ net.
Noah Tangalin finished with two goals and Tayedyn Francisco added one in top-seeded Pohaku’s 3-0 win over the Westside Pride.
The win pits Pohaku against the Westside Falcons for the Under 10 title.
