LIHU‘E — Those needing dental care who lack the funds to cover the work can take advantage of the free dental care day being offered by Great Smiles Dental on Nov. 25.
The dental practice headed by Dr. Ron Patel will be re-initiating a program started by Dr. Greg Naganuma several years ago when the dental office would offer free dental work on a first-come, first-served basis.
That gesture was taken advantage of by numerous people who might otherwise not be able to have dental work done, and the gesture by Patel and his staff comes in time so people can enjoy Thanksgiving.
Stephanie Woodruff, office manager of Great Smiles Dental, said the staff will be offering the service between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Nov. 25. No appointments will be taken, and clients will be handled on a first come, first served basis.
“Dr. Patel will be joined by three other dentists and we’ll have a dental hygienist on hand as well,” Woodruff said. “Dr. Patel’s father, a well-known cardiologist from California, will also be here offering blood pressure screening as well.”
In addition to the dental service, Woodruff said there will be a booth where people can register for an upcoming blood drive at the G.N. Wilcox Memorial Hospital.
“This is just one way Dr. Patel said we can give back to the island,” Woodruff said.
Great Smiles Dental normal hours are Tuesdays 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., Wednesdays 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., Fridays 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Saturdays 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Woodruff said people with emergencies can call anytime and the staff will handle them on the same day.
