LIHU‘E — Young soccer players between the ages of 8 and 15 years old are invited to register for a free Youth Soccer Clinic, Dec. 6 between 1 to 5 p.m. at the Vidinha Stadium Side field.
Registration for the free clinic can be done by visiting www.firstdownpromotions.com and is being sponsored by the Hawai‘i Fire Fighters Association.
University of Hawai‘i Assistant Women’s Soccer Coach Gina Brewer and some of her staff will head the clinic.
Brewer joined the University of Hawai‘i program in 2008 and is involved in all aspects of the soccer program including practice and game-day preparation, scouting and recruiting.
Prior to joining the Rainbow, she was a graduate assistant at Idaho in 2003 and spent three seasons in Moscow where she served as the interim head coach for a period.
In 2006, she joined the staff at Utah State where she was involved in all areas of the program including the training of goalkeepers. During her one season there, she led the Aggies to a second-place Western Athletic Conference finish with a 5-2 record, including a 2-1 upset over Hawai‘i on O‘ahu.
She has also served on the staffs of Olympic Development Program teams in Idaho and Washington.
As a player, Brewer enjoyed a successful four-year career at the University of Washington where, as a striker, she helped the Huskies qualify for the NCAA Tournament in three of her four seasons.
Brewer holds an NSCAA regional diploma and national goalkeeping license and a U.S. Soccer Federation “C” coaching license.
A native of Auburn, Wash., Brewer received her bachelor’s degree in sociology with a minor in communications from Washington. She earned a Master’s degree in physical education with a minor in health from Idaho.
