Grace Beringer
Grace Saiki Tashima Beringer of Honolulu died Dec. 11, 2009, at age 88. Born on Sept. 28, 1921, in Kapa‘a, she was a retired executive housekeeper for Outrigger Hotels.
She is survived by her sons Alan (Patricia) Tashima and Richard Tashima; daughter Dianne (Dennis) Sugihara; sister Pearl Miyasaki; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation at 1:30 p.m., service at 2:30 p.m., on Friday, Dec. 18, at Hosoi Garden Mortuary.
Arrangements are being handled by Hosoi Garden Mortuary Inc.
Jose Valdez III
Jose Corrales Valdez III of Apple Valley, Calif., died Dec. 6, 2009, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at age 48. Born on May 2, 1961, in Namuac Sanchez-Mira, Cagayan, Philippines, he was a physician assistant at High Desert Primary Care.
He is survived by his wife Myrtle Sitompul-Valdez; son Jordan Valdez; parents Clavelina and Jose Valdez Jr.; brothers Fred (Luz) Valdez and Walter (Meldon) Valdez; sisters Lorna (Rolando) Valdez Arafiles and Meha (Todd) Valdez Ewing; mother-in-law Gladys Sitompul; sisters-in-law Genevieve (Fred) Nelwan and Minerva Sitompul; numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be in California.
Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick Kaua‘i Mortuary.
