Happy birthday to Kim Tamaoka!
Hats off to Mary Bea Porter-King (Sharron Weber kept coming back) and the junior golf staff on a great rummage sale, Saturday at King Auto Center. There were a lot of people looking at the Michelle Wie clubs and clothes.
Sometimes it’s good to have events like these so you can chat with Rachel Dela Cruz and Kim’s sister Lauren without the pressure of golf. Rachel even talked about Laine Malson, the junior golf tournament director, who will be out and about during the 2010 circuit.
Mahalo, too, to Lanaly Caballo for e-mailing while shopping at The Target about T.J. Kua and Jonathan Ota playing in the Sony Open qualifier on O‘ahu.
Dave Walker said sportsmanship is alive in KIF soccer. Dave was officiating the Waimea-Island match at Hanapepe Stadium before helping the Rotary Club of West Kaua‘i at the Waimea Lighted Parade, Saturday.
He said Island’s Michael Chamberlain scored first and as the game wound down, Waimea’s Joshua Quinlan made an amazing shot in the last five minutes of play. That shot had Chamberlain applauding Quinlan on the goal which resulted in a 1-1 tie between the two teams.
OK, time to check out the cops at the Big Kmart.
