Dorothy Akau
Dorothy Cordova Akau of Kapa‘a died Dec. 5, 2009, at the Kona Community Hospital at age 80. Born on March 3, 1929, in Honolulu, she was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her parents Francisco Cordova and Carrie Lopez, husband Charles Awana Akau Jr., daughter Renee Dela Cuesta and sister Caroline Rosa.
She is survived by her sons Larry (Katherine) Akau of Kapa‘a, and Charles (Robin) Akau III; daughters Carol (Wayne) Casil of Kailua-Kona, Sapphire Winston and Healani Akau both of Lihu‘e; brothers Peter (Betty Lou) Lopez and Gilbert (Geraldine) Lopez, all of Tacoma, Wash.; sister Harriet Bolosan of Wahiawa, O‘ahu; 23 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation at 9:30 a.m., service at 10 a.m., on Saturday, Jan. 9 at Lihu‘e Christian Church. Inurnment will follow at Hanapepe Veterans Cemetery. Casual attire is suggested.

Sue Koga
Sue Suzuko Koga of Lihu‘e died Dec. 29, 2009, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at age 86. Born on Dec. 4, 1923, in Nagoya, Japan, she retired as a pantry worker with Kaua‘i Resort.
She was preceded in death by her husband Tatsuo Koga.
She is survived by her daughters Sharon (Derrick) Gusman and Luanne (Alan) Ota, both of Lihu‘e; sister Mieko (Tatsuo) Fujitani of Japan; three grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation at 10 a.m., services at 11 a.m., on Saturday, Jan. 9, at Lihu‘e Hongwanji Mission.
Casual attire suggested.

Val Wilmot
Val R. Wilmot of Kapa‘a died Dec. 20, 2009, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at age 80. Born on Sept. 29, 1929, he was retired from American Metal Corp.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and Patrick Wilmot from Colorado.
He is survived by his wife Lorraine of Kapa‘a; stepchildren Michael Nay, Cheryl Lichenstein of Colorado and Jani Nay of Kapa‘a.
Memorial service at noon, on Jan. 22, at Lydgate park. Casual attire is suggested and refreshments will be served.

Ines Lazaro
Ines Labrador Lazaro of Kapa‘a died Jan. 2, 2010, at Samuel Mahelona Memorial Hospital at age 66. Born on Jan. 21, 1943, in Bacarra, Philippines, she was a retired field worker with Lihu‘e Plantation.
She was preceded in death by her sisters Leandra Bartolome and Carmen Vicinte, brother-in-law Vicinte Bartolome and son-in-law Colin Sunada.
She is survived by her husband Andres Lazaro; children Kina (Dean) Abben, Dino (Marybeth) Lazaro, Nerio (Alida) Lazaro, Venus Lazaro, Marry Sunada and Virginia (Nathan) Bragg; three grandchildren; siblings Fabiana (Emilio) Guerrero, Christian (Rosabila) Labrador, Cenona (Elico) Acob and Phillipe Labrador; brother-in-law Jusinto Vicinte; numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation at 9 a.m., Mass at 10:15 a.m., on Saturday, Jan. 9, at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Kalaheo. Burial at Lihu‘e Public Cemetery.
Casual attire is suggested.

Alice Midori Yoshimura of Honolulu died Dec. 24, 2009, at age 95. She was born in Makaweli, Kaua‘i.
She was preceded in death by her husband Dr. James Yoshimura.
She is survived by her sons Lester Yoshimura and Dr. Lyman Yoshimura; daughter Gwen Shigekane; sisters Mitsue Mizuo, Masao Watamura, Hazel Park and Robyn Ross; 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Memorial service at 6 p.m., on Jan. 11, at the Mililani Mortuary Makai, O‘ahu. Memorial service again at 3 p.m., on Jan. 14, at the Kapa‘a Jodo Mission, Kaua‘i.
Alice Silva
Alice Vidinha Silva of Hanama‘ulu died Jan. 1, 2010, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at age 75. Born on Feb. 27, 1934, in Kalaheo, she retired as a sales clerk at Papaya’s Natural Foods.
She was preceded in death by her parents Manuel and Ida Andrade Vidinha; great-grandson Kahoku O‘ Mana O‘io Silva.
She is survived by her husband Raymond Silva; daughter Wendy (Jason) Shimabukuro; sons Derek (Pua) Silva, Robby (Lana) Silva and Don Silva; brothers Richard (Connie) Vidinha, Lawrence Vidinha and Charles Vidinha; grandchildren Alicia (Andrew) Lagundino, John (Cheryl) Silva, Justin (Marissa) Silva, Jaylynn, Jaysie and Jaynna Shimabukuro, Tiana (Gino) Silva, Robby (Nicole) Silva Jr., Shyann (Jonah) Silva, Aaron Namuo-Silva and Kawaikea Silva; great-grandchildren Ganen, Racen, Po‘okela, Kamanu, Kaiea, Cleonie and Salef; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Alberta Delos Santos Jose of Lihu‘e died Dec. 29, 2009, at her home at age 87. Born on Dec. 10, 1921, in the Philippines, she was a retired plantation worker.
She was preceded in death by her parents Alberto and Maria Delos Santos, husband Benjamin Jose, son Damian Jose and son-in-law Jeffery Nagata.
She is survived by her son Richard (Brenda) Jose of Kekaha; daughter Natividad “Naty” Nagata of Kapa‘a; sisters Josefa Duldulao of the Philippines and Matilde Delos Santos of the Philippines; brother Basilio Delos Santos of the Philippines; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Visitation at 9 a.m., Mass at 10 a.m., on Monday, Jan. 11, at Immaculate Conception Church. Burial to follow at Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens.

Patrocinio Garasi
Patrocinio Garasi of Lihu‘e died Dec. 24, 2009, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at age 59. Born on Oct. 17, 1950, in Ilocos Norte, San Nicolas, Philippines, he was a Landscaper with Na Aina Kai Botanical Gardens.
He was preceded in death by his father Rizal Garasi and son-in-law S. Sgt. Randy Agno.
He is survived by his wife Lyrie Coloma Garasi of Kaua‘i; daughters Marvelyn Garasi-Agno and Mary Jane Garasi, both of Kaua‘i; mother Ernesta Garasi of the Philippines, and two grandchildren.
Visitation at 8:30 a.m., Mass at 10 a.m., on Saturday, Jan. 23, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Burial to follow at Lihu‘e Public Cemetery.

Francisco Campos Sr.
Francisco Matute Campos Sr. of Waimea, Kaua‘i, died Jan. 4, 2010, at Kaua‘i Veterans Memorial Hospital at age 92. Born on Sept. 12, 1917, in Piddig, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, he was a retired irrigator for Gay & Robinson.
He is survived by his sons Rudy (Kathy) Campos of Simi Valley, Calif., and Francisco Campos Jr. of Lihu‘e; daughters Marcelia “Marcy” Mendonca of Lihu‘e and Fely (Daryll) Dement of Hanapepe; 18 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Visitation at 9 a.m., Mass at 10 a.m., on Friday, Jan. 15, at ‘Ele‘ele Sacred Hearts Catholic Church. Burial to follow at Hanapepe Public Cemetery.

Elvie Manley
Elvie Manley of Kapa‘a died Dec. 25, 2009, at Garden Isle Healthcare at age 103. Born on July 18, 1906, in Greenville, Tenn., she retired as a nurse from Wilcox Memorial Hospital.
She was preceded in death by her parents George and Lucy Manley.
Memorial service at 10 a.m., on Thursday, Jan. 7, at Lihu‘e United Church. Casual attire is suggested and flowers should be omitted.

Leonor Labrador
Leonor P. Labrador of Apopka, Fla., died Jan. 3, 2010, at age 87. Born on July 23, 1922, in Koloa, he was a laborer in the sugar plantations in Hawai‘i.
He is survived by his wife Lillian Labrador of Apopka, Fla.; son Loren Labrador of Olympia, Wash.; daughter Lillian Boyd of Altamonte Springs, Fla.; brother Perfector Labrador of Hawai‘i; sisters Rose Wagner of Hawai‘i, Ida Mendoza of Texas and Florence Artiago of California; and six grandchildren.

Henry Kupihea
Henry Mona Kupihea of Buena Park, Calif., died Dec. 17, 2009, at age 55. Born on Oct. 21, 1954, in O‘ahu, he had a passion for singing and playing Hawaiian music.
He was preceded in death by his parents Solomon and Hattie Margaret Kupihea; sisters Martha Whitter, Piilani Bright, Malu Fernandez, Rachel Akiyama, Grace Fitzgerald, Nani Shimabukuro and Dorothy Goo; brothers Solomon Kupihea Jr., Henry Kupihea, Roy Kupihea and George Kupihea.
He is survived by his sisters Kelani (Bruce) Torres of Iowa, Mary (Edwin) Maunakea of Texas, Elaine Watson of Kaua‘i, Deborah (Jack) Muff of Florida and Yolanda (Patrick) Rosa of Lihu‘e; brother Wallace (Linda) Kupihea of Kaua‘i; numerous nieces and nephews.
Private services were held in California.
A memorial celebration potluck will be held from 4 to 8 p.m., on Jan. 9, at Anahola Club House.
