Police ended up using a Taser and pepper spray to subdue Tyson Yadao, 21, after Yadao allegedly fled from a Hanama‘ulu home and kicked police trying to subdue and arrest him, the release states.
Yadao is a suspect in theft, burglary, forgery and other cases, states the release.
Acting on a tip, officers Kenneth Cummings, Clyde Caires and Randal Nero went to a Hanama‘ulu residence at around 6:15 p.m. Wednesday to search for Yadao, wanted for a number of crimes including: seven counts of second-degree forgery; eight counts of second-degree theft; third-degree theft; fourth-degree theft; three counts of first-degree burglary; second-degree reckless endangering; reckless driving; resisting an order to stop; and a bench warrant for contempt of court, according to the county release.
The names of the officers were taken from the KPD incident daily bulletin.
The officers tried to arrest Yadao, but he resisted and ran, according to the release.
When the officers caught up with him, a struggle ensued. Yadao kicked each of the officers as they attempted to subdue him, and continued to resist arrest, the release states.
Yadao was finally subdued after police utilized a Taser and pepper spray. Yadao was then transported to Wilcox Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment.
After receiving medical clearance, Yadao was released from the hospital and brought to the KPD cellblock for booking.
