Cornelis Vankeeken
Cornelis Keith Vankeeken of Kalaheo died Dec. 31, 2009, at his home at age 84. He was born on July 26, 1925, in Rotterdam, Netherlands.
He was preceded in death by parents Marinus Sr. and Carolien Vankeeken, and brother Benjamin.
He is survived by daughters Irene (Aren) Van Loon and Mieke (Yke) Vandermeer both of Holland; four grandsons; brother Marinus (Anne) Vankeeken Jr. of Holland; sister Carol Vankeeken of Koloa; and one niece.
Memorial service at 3 p.m., on Sunday, Jan. 24, at Salt Pond Beach Park, west end. The family requests to bring flower petals that can be set afloat in ocean with ashes.
Arrangements are being handled by Garden Island Mortuary.
Vicente Cubangbang
Vicente Afaga Cubangbang of Lihu‘e died Jan. 10, 2010, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at age 89. Born on Dec. 7, 1920, in Cabaruan Bacarra, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, he was a retired groundskeeper for Coco Palms.
He is survived by his wife Enriqueta Acob Cubangbang; children Martina Cubangbang, Josefina (Bert) Ventura, Lucrecia (Reynoldo) Aurelio, Leo (Jesusa) Cubangbang, Ross (Jocelyn) Cubangbang, Carlos (Helen) Cubangbang, Felino (Dominga) Cubangbang, Evaristo (Eliza) Cubangbang, Silverio (Eleanor) Cubangbang, Corazon (Angel) Cruz and Greg (Jane) Cubangbang; sisters Victoria Cubangbang Budua, Felicidad Cubangbang Acob, Remedios Cubangbang Acob and Evarista Cubangbang Afaga; brothers Simplicio Cubangbang and Andres Cubangbang; 23 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation from 6 to 9 p.m., on Friday, Jan. 29, at Borthwick Mortuary Chapel in Koloa. Visitation again from 8 to 9:45 a.m., Mass at 10 a.m., on Saturday, Jan. 30, at Immaculate Conception Church. Burial to follow at Kalapaki Bay Memorial Park Cemetery.
Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick Kaua‘i Mortuary.
Alice Kaneshiro
Alice Alani Tung-Loong Kaneshiro of Kekaha died Jan. 16, 2010, at Kaua‘i Veterans Memorial Hospital at age 83. Born on Aug. 15, 1926, in Koloa, she was a housewife.
She was preceded in death by her husband Yoshio “Chita” Kaneshiro; daughter Ethel Michioka; grandson Byron Michioka; brothers Samuel Chi Kane Sr. and Arthur Poli; sisters Lillian Christian and Emmaline Ho‘oikaika.
She is survived by her sons Julius Kaneshiro of Washington, Patrick (Charmaine) Kaneshiro of Kekaha and Dereck Kaneshiro of Kekaha; daughters Lucia (Raymond) Bartels of Kekaha, Nada (James) Wong of Waianae, Faith (Les) Kwock of Mililani, Noelle (Jonathan) Renti Cruz of Kekaha, Anna Lee (Lance) Lum of Waimanalo; son-in-law Stanley Michioka; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; brothers Ah Kem Tung Loong, Melvin Tung Loong, Douglas Tung Loong and Marvin Tung Loong; sisters Charlotte Tung Loong May and Desiree Kuilani Tung Loong; numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation at noon, service at 1 p.m., on Saturday, Jan. 23, at Kaua‘i Veterans Cemetery Pavilion.

Kazue Honma
Kazue Florence Honma of ‘Ele‘ele died Jan. 19, 2010, at Kaua‘i Veterans Memorial Hospital at age 84. Born on Jan. 31, 1925, in Lihu‘e, she was a retired cafeteria worker for Waimea High School.
She was preceded in death by her husband Riyozo Honma.
She is survived by her son Eric (Bonnie) Honma of ‘Ele‘ele; granddaughter Taryn Honma of ‘Ele‘ele; grandson David Honma of Honolulu; brother Tadao Suemori of ‘Oma‘o; sisters Takino Izuka of Waimea, Haruko (Barbra) Homberg of California and Namiko (Donald) Fukuda of Honolulu.
Visitation at 2 p.m., service at 3 p.m., on Sunday, Jan. 24, at Garden Island Mortuary chapel. Officiated by the Rev. Steve Bishop of ‘Ele‘ele Baptist Church. Interment will be held at a later date.
Casual attire is suggested.
