Helen Cox had the benefit of a double whammy, Wednesday night at the Hukilau Lana‘i. She was on hand to accept a check from the Rotary Club of Kapa‘a with Glenn Hontz from Rodney Pascua and Melissa Mojo, but before she got to that event, ran into Brian Yamamoto in the lobby.
Brian was waiting on Masahiro Sugimoto of the Oshima National College of Maritime Technology who was wrapping up the three-week study itinerary for the Japanese college students who will be coming in August. They were joined by Dennis Chun, Ramona Kincaid, Tracy Hirano and Cheryl Fujii (she’s got Engineering Week coming up).
Have you dined at Chef (Celina Haigh said he’s certified) Gilly’s Cafe? If you’re a student at St. Catherine School, you do it every day, and hats off to the creative minds that created the catchy sign. Gilly Ainoa said he’s been working at the school for two years and the students (and staff) favorite are the beef stew and kalua turkey which he happened to have on the menu coinciding with the grant the school got from Young Brothers.
Don’t forget to check out Lorna Santos and the Lawa‘i Cannery Storage for the big garage sale, Sunday, benefiting the Waimea High School Project Graduation.
