Melissa McFerrin is trying to figure out the logistics of how to get some vendors to sell things at the American Culinary Federation breakfast for next year.
Hats off to the ACF (never got to see Chef Guy Higa) chefs and the Kaua‘i Community College culinary arts crew on a great breakfast! Chef Larry Eells and Romel Begonia (Waimea High School Career Day coming up) were busy on the omelet line with the KCC culinary arts students (Jordan Park was a popular stopping point with the ham carving station) and KCC culinary instructor Billy Gibson was everywhere making sure everything went right (fine dining starts in mid-March).
KCC Chancellor Helen Cox was juggling enjoying the breakfast and hosting some guests who just got through with a community college retreat at the Waimea Plantation Cottages. Billy accommodated her schedule by getting her up on the mic early (Kent Tanigawa said the girl in the green dress was one of the Miss Kaua‘i winners, Saturday).
Wallis Punua (he was at inline hockey) said that girl was Veronica Pablo whose dad Jaime was goalkeeping for one of the Open Division teams. Congratulations to Ha‘aheo Oliver and Veronica for topping the Saturday pageant, and mahalo to Paul Hayashi of Honolulu for the pix!
