Seedings for the Hawai‘i High School Athletic Association boys state championships for both Division I and Division II were affected by the tsunami warning, Saturday.
One of the casualties of that warning was the cancellations and postponements of high school sports.
Kamehameha-Kapalama was scheduled to play at Honoka‘a on the Big Island in a Division I play-in match, according to online sources.
Academy of the Pacific was to play Hawai‘i Baptist Academy in a Division II play-in.
Both matches were postponed due to the tsunami warning.
At press time, the Division I game at Honoka‘a is scheduled for 4 p.m., today, pending the ability of Kamehameha Schools to get a flight to the Big Island.
The Division II play-in is also scheduled for today, although a site has not been firmed up.
Seedings will come out following those matches.
Kapa‘a High School, the Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation champions, will be playing in the Division II state championships which open play with the quarterfinals, Thursday at Farrington High School. The championship game of the Hawaiian Airlines Boys Basketball State Championships will be played at the Stan Sheriff Center at the University of Hawai‘i at Manoa on Saturday.
Division I games will start Wednesday with the opening rounds scheduled for both Radford and McKinley high schools. Championships for the Division I title will also be played Saturday at the Stan Sheriff Center.
